I have had a fascination about the mountains ever since I would go skiing with some buddies every winter in High School. Since then and especially after developing a rather intense cycling obsession, I have dreamed for years about getting a cabin in the mountains of Colorado. After every trip when I come home back in the midwest, I am on Zillow for hours day dreaming of my future family getaway.
Eventually, reality inevitably smacks you in the face and you remember that running a business and the lack of 500k disposable income is a significant barrier to this particular daydream.
Since Momma didn't raise no quitter, I thought of the most ingenious way to kill two birds. Two words.... Adventure Van! My wife and I can just buy a rolling tiny house and drive the damn thing out there. Boom!
Since this is nothing new, there was plenty of info you can find out there. After doing tons of research I found the perfect fit for what we were wanting to do. And added bonus, they are literally 30 min from where I grew up in KCMO.
VanDOit out of Blue Springs MO has the perfect set up for what we are after.

So before we set up our personal build I thought it would be perfect to rent one from them and take it to the mountains. What a perfect way to dial in things you want like a awning, 4x4, bunk beds, solar panels, etc. & decide on stuff you can go without. How much water do we need boondocking? At this point all our knowledge comes from blogs and articles. So we're off soon, and I for one am so excited I can't see straight.
My wife is a little apprehensive about extended time in a van (or maybe just the price tag), but is being an absolute trooper about our upcoming adventure. Lucky for me, she is pretty awesome like that and is always up for exploring the unknown. Lord knows the boys could use her supervision.

Can’t wait to follow your adventures!
So amazing. Definitely looking forward to your post. Dreams coming true!!!!
